William Troost-Ekong has talked up the influence of assistant coaches, Fidelis Ilechukwu and Daniel Ogunmodede in the team’s recent impressive form.
Ilechukwu and Ogunmodede were drafted in as assistants to Super Eagles caretaker coach, Augustine Eguavoen last month.
The duo were on the bench in the team’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying fixtures against Benin Republic and Rwanda.
Troost-Ekong affirmed his belief in local coaches tinkering the Super Eagles.
“It’s great for Nigeria football, I think it’s the way we can see progress for the long term that we want to see,” the centre-back told a press conference in Uyo.
“I’ve always been an advocate for the NPFL and having players and coaches here and that is the way we can continue to grow Nigeria football.”
