Ahmed Hany of American University ,Cairo (AUC) on Thursday won the gold medal in the 100m men’s breaststroke swimming in final at the ongoing 11th All African University Games in Lagos.
Hany finished 1.05.90s to clinch the coveted medal.
Karim Mohammed ,also of the same university, finished 1.07.90s to win silver while Daramola Adegboyega of the University of Lagos got bronze ,finishing 1.31.86s.
Speaking to the News Agency of Nigeria(NAN)Hany said he was happy that he came out victorious in the event.
“Am so excited I won this, I never expected that I would come out best, it was not easy, but I tried my best.
“I really want to improve in swimming, expecially ,the time .I will really love to improve .
“I trained hard in order to come out triumphant,so the victory is a result of hardwork.
“I hope to put in more efforts to take this to a whole new level ” he said.
