Gov. Dapo Abiodun of Ogun has expressed his heartfelt congratulations to the All Progressives Congress (APC) flagbearer and governor-elect of Edo, Mr Monday Okpebholo.
Abiodun said that the peaceful conduct of the governorship election in Edo on Saturday reaffirmed that Nigeria’s democracy is maturing and evolving.
The governor, in a congratulatory message to Okpebholo, the APC, and President Bola Tinubu, made available to newsmen on Monday in Abeokuta by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Lekan Adeniran, praised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for its commendable efforts.
Abiodun, in the statement, lauded INEC for ensuring a free and fair electoral process, highlighting the transparency and credibility of the elections.
“Such a commitment to democratic principles is a testament to INEC’s dedication to upholding the rule of law and fostering trust in the electoral system,” the governor said.
He commended the Edo people for their active participation in the electoral process, underscoring that their voices had been heard loud and clear.
“This election not only reflects their wishes but also signifies a collective stride towards more vibrant and accountable governance,” the governor added.
Abiodun commended the leadership of the APC for running an issues-based campaign during the electioneering process, which paved the way for the resounding victory recorded by the party.
He also lauded Tinubu for his leadership and vision, which had been instrumental in guiding the APC to the victory.
According to him, under Tinubu’s stewardship, the party has been waxing stronger.
He reiterated his belief in the progress of Nigeria’s democracy and the pivotal role of President Tinubu in shaping a brighter future for the nation.
Also, the APC in Ogun felicitated the Edo Governor-elect, Okphebolo, on his victory at the just concluded governorship election.
In a statement issued in Abeokuta on Monday by the APC State Publicity Secretary, Tunde Oladunjoye, the party described Okphebolo’s victory as a testimony to the popularity of the party in the state.
“It is indeed a sweet victory that Edo State is now back to the Progressives fold, where it has always been.
“Our party rejoices with the good people of Edo and urges the winner to form an inclusive government. (NAN).
