A fire that broke out in the Leuna Chemical Park in the eastern German state of Saxony-Anhalt on Monday morning has since been extinguished, a spokesman for operator Infraleuna said.
The fire was caused by a deflagration on a lorry trailer, he said, adding that no one was injured.
Residents reported on social media that there had been a loud bang beforehand.
The incident occurred on the premises of the company Linde in the chemical park.
Linde AG operated the company’s largest gas centre in Leuna, producing hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, carbon monoxide and other speciality gases.
Operations at the chemical park were not affected by the fire, according to the spokesman.
The company is currently looking for the cause of the deflagration. (dpa/NAN).
