In its effort to develop a new pathway for the revival of the game of Cricket in the Federal Capital Territory, the leadership of the FCT Cricket Association in collaboration with the Sports Council have unveiled a new Coach for the team.
He is a former National team Coach and Cricket technical consultant, Olisa Egwatu.
Unveiling the new helsman at the FCT Sports Council, Area 3, Abuja, the Chairman of the FCT Cricket Association, Engineer Emeka Onyeama said the appointment of a new Coach is one of ways of channel a new course for the development of the game in the Territory
” The Association had engaged the services of Mr Olisa Egwatu who is internationally certified Cricket Coach and development expert to bring his vast experience in Coaching and Cricket development to bear in this new initiative”, Emeka said.
Iyiola Ogundele, Deputy Director, Sports Development in the FCT Sports Council who represented Director of Sports Council in the event assured the new Coach and the Association of support. He said the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike is taking serious interest in the development of Sports in the Capital Territory.
In his reaction after unveiling, Olisa Egwatu who is also a former board member, Nigeria Cricket Federation, promised to bring experience and personal commitment to make sure FCT Cricket has structure, that will help the future of the game in the Federal Capital Territory.
He said a three- day introductory Cricket Coaching course for Sports officers for selected Schools will hold soon to bring the officers up to speed with the game.
Among the personalities that witnessed the unveiling include Dr Esther, the Deputy Director, technical in the Sports Council, members of the Staff as well as Board members of the FCT Cricket Association.
