An Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday remanded a 26-year-old man, Mustapha Lawal, in a correctional centre for allegedly stealing aluminum windows, valued at N1.2 million.
Lawal, whose residential address was not provided, is facing a two-count charge bordering on stealing and malicious damage, to which he pleaded guilty.
The Prosecutor, Insp Adegeshin Famuyiwa, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on June 27 at about 8 a.m. at Odo-Nla area of Ikorodu, Lagos.
Famuyiwa said that the defendant entered a proposed primary school building and stole aluminum windows, valued at N1.2 million, belonging to the developer, one Mr Kareem Carew.
Famuyiwa stated that the defendant also damaged some aluminum windows, worth N800,000 inside the same building.

According to the prosecutor, the offences contravene Sections 339 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State.
The Magistrate, A.O. Ogbe, remanded the defendant in Kirikiri correctional centre and adjourned the matter till Aug. 8 for facts and sentencing. (NAN)
