The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ekiti State Command, on Friday, paraded four suspects arrested over alleged rape and human trafficking in Ado Ekiti.
The suspects were paraded at the Counter Terrorism Base of the Command located on Afao Road, Ado Ekiti.
Briefing newsmen, the State Commandant, Mr Sunday Agboola, commended the efforts of the Counter Terrorism Unit for apprehending the suspects.
He cautioned youths in the state, especially ladies, to avoid toxic relationship with cultists.
Agboola said that one of the suspects, 23, was arrested at Omisanjana axis of the state capital for alleged rape, cyber stalking, conspiracy and threat to life.
The commandant said that the suspected while under the influence of drugs, allegedly drugged his victim and raped her repeatedly before taking a short video of her nude body without her consent.
He added that the suspect later threatened his victim with the video recording several times in order to force her to continue to engage in unlawful sexual intercourse with him.
“The victim refused to cowed by his threats and he later posted the video on social media channels,” the commandant said.
Agboola said that three other suspects in their 30s were also arrested at Oshodi Community in Ado Ekiti for alleged human trafficking.
He said that the suspects were Burkina Faso returnees, who specialised in trafficking people from Ado Ekiti to Burkina Faso.
“The suspects are also in the habit of luring their victims with promises of juicy work offers in Burkina Faso and collecting huge amount of money from them.
“Various items recovered from them include a Burkina Faso Army uniform, International passport, Burkina Faso bus ticket fare payment, charms, substance suspected to be cannabis sativa and alcoholic drinks,” Agboola said.
The commandant said that the suspects would be investigated properly before being handed over to relevant agencies for further investigation and prosecution. (NAN).
