Gov Hyacinth Alia, has approved the appointment of retired Air Commodore Jacob Gbamwuan as the Director-General, Bureau of Homeland Security.
This was contained in a press statement issued on Monday in Makurdi by his Chief Press Secretary Mr Tersoo Kula.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the State Security Council had approved the establishment of a Bureau of Homeland Security to be domiciled directly under the office of the Governor.
Kula said Gbamwuan previously served the Nigerian military meritoriously and retired into community service.
The governor urged Gbamwuan to bring his wealth of experience, national and international connections as well as security expertise to bear on his vision on tackling insecurity in the state.
He also charged him to ensure he put the interest of the state first in all his official dealings.
The appointment takes immediate effect.
NAN reports that Gbamwuan is a graduate of Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna; Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT) Zaria; University of Jos; Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and a specialist in Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice. (MLCJ).(NAN).
