Fit-again Super Falcons players returned to the training pitch on Sunday three days after arriving in France ahead of Thursday’s crucial first match against Brazil.
It will be their opening Group C clash of the 2024 Paris Olympics Women’s Football Tournament, Prompt News reports.
All the 18 players in the squad took part in the two hours training session under the watchful eyes of head coach Randy Waldrum at Stéhelin Stadium in the suburb of Bordeaux just about 20 minutes drive from the team’s Hotel Mercure abode.
The nine-time African champions will square up with Brazil in their opening fixture of the Olympics women’s football tournament at the Stade Bordeaux on Thursday, July 25.
Nigeria’s other matches in the group phase are against Spain on Sunday, July 28 and Japan on Wednesday, July 31 , both at the Stade de la Beaujoire in Nantes.
The West Africans who landed in France in the wee hours of Thursday just as they had their regeneration routine Friday at the team’s Hotel Mercure abode.
Also, Waldrum magnanimously gave the 18 players a day rest on Saturday to allow for full recovery from two weeks training in Seville, Spain and jet lag from the flight from Seville to Bordeaux. READ ALSO:

The Super Falcons are returning to the Olympics after 16 years hiatus and have been drawn in a formidable Group C, alongside Spain, who are making their Olympics debut; two-time Silver medalists Brazil, and London 2012 Silver medalists Japan.
