The Lagos State Government has urged the general public to be vigilant against individuals posing as enforcement personnel of the Ministry of Transportation and Local Government Areas.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transportation, Mr Olawale Musa, said this in a statement on Thursday in Lagos.
The statement was signed by Mrs Bolanle Ogunlola, Deputy Director, Public Affairs of the ministry.
Musa said in spite of the recent operations by the Ministry which led to apprehension and prosecution of several impostors operating illegally in the state, illegal operators continued in their numbers around the metropolis.
He disclosed that two fake enforcement personnels were apprehended at Cele Ijesha roundabout, Itire on Wednesday.
Musa said that they are now rampant Mushin, Itire, Ijesha, Ilasa, and Ikeja, adding that they had been impeding traffic through their nefarious activities and exploiting unsuspecting motorists.
He urged the public to collaborate with the ministry by reporting any suspicious activities involving the supposed fake enforcement impostors to the ministry’s public complaint numbers; 09020004000 or. 09020009000.
Musa affirmed that all genuine officers of the ministry of transportation are properly identified and operates within the legal framework.
He assured residents of the state government commitment to safety and security of its citizens.
Musa stressed that the state government would continue to take decisive actions against fraudulent activities.
He added that the apprehended impostors would be charged to court and prosecuted in accordance with the laws of the state. (NAN)
