The Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), in Kebbi, has revealed that it would fully participate in the forthcoming Local Government elections scheduled for Aug. 31.
The Spokesperson of the party in the state, Alhaji Sani Dododo, made this known in Birnin Kebbi after a stakeholders’ meeting on Monday.
He said, “The decision to fully participate during the polls was reached after a meeting of enlarged stakeholders of the party today.
“The meeting resolved that the party should fully participate in the exercise so as not to jeopardise the ambition of young party members willing to test their popularity at the said elections at both Councillorship and Chairmanship levels.
“We are going to submit the names of our candidates for both the councillorship and chairmanship positions by July 17.”
Dododo called on the State Independent Electoral Commission (KESIEC), security agencies, media organisations and judiciary to ensure effective monitoring of the exercise towards free, fair and credible elections in the state.
“PDP will reject any results that are not genuine in the forthcoming local government elections in the state,” he confirmed.
According to Dododo, PDP believes in free, fair and credible elections, therefore, warned that there will be no room for result writing in the forthcoming polls.
The spokesperson thanked the party faithful in the state for their continued support to PDP, assuring that their love for the party would not be in vain. (NAN)
