Randy Waldrum remains confident on the chances of the Super Falcons making a big impact at the 2024 Olympic Games.
The Super Falcons are the lowest team in a tough looking group that has current world champions Spain, former world champions Japan and highly-rated Brazil.
The former African champions caught the eye with their spectacular performance at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Waldrum’s charges held current Olympic champions Canada to a 0-0 draw and defeated hosts Australia 3-2 in a thrilling contest in the competition.
They bowed out in Round of 16 against England losing on penalties after dominating the game.
The American believes his team can replicate same performance in Paris.
“I think this one could be a special group,” Waldrum told ESPN.
“We’ve shown our quality against some of the best teams in the world at the World Cup and hopefully, we’ll do the same at the Olympics.”
Nigeria’s first game, against Brazil, comes up at the Stade Bordeaux on July 25, before confrontations with Spain on July 28 and their final group game against Japan is on July 31.
The matches against Spain and Japan will hold at the Stade de la Beaujoire in Nantes. READ ALSO:
