Bafana Bafana striker Iqraam Rayners has said it is important for the team to avoid defeat against Nigeria in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying contest.
Hugo Broos’ side will be up against the Super Eagles at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo on Friday.
Rayners claimed they can’t afford to lose the game.
“If we can’t win, we must at least get a point in Nigeria,” Rayners said, as per Sowetan Live.
“Like the coach said, he wants four points from these two games but we will try to get six points…this is football and anything can happen, we might steal the game in the last minutes in Nigeria, you saw what happened at the weekend [referring to Pirates’ win over Sundowns].”
South Africa will host the Warriors of Zimbabwe at the Free State Stadium four days after the game against Nigeria.
Bafana Bafana have recorded one win and one draw from two games in Group C. READ ALSO:
