Two men – Zeyanu Umaru and Musa Mohammed, on Tuesday appeared before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court over alleged N5.4 million fraud.
Umaru, 32 and Mohammed, 37 whose addresses were not provided, are facing a charge of fraud.
The prosecutor, Insp Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the defendants committed the offence on Feb.16, in Ado-Ekiti.
Oriyomi said that the defendants collected the sum of N5.4 million from the complainant, Mr Muyideen Animasaun, to supply copper wires to him, which they failed to deliver.
He said that the defendants converted the money to their own personal use.
“All efforts made by the complainant to retrieve his money proved abortive,” the prosecutor said.
Oriyomi said that the offence contravened Section 329(3) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charge.
