A 53-year old man, Kingsley Udeala, was on Monday arraigned before a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court over alleged land fraud.
Udeala, whose address was not given, is being charged with fraud, to which he pleaded not guilty.
The Prosecutor, Insp Edet Ekpo, told the court that the defendant committed the offence at about 2.00p.m on May 5, 2017, at Oko Rice, Itoga, Badagry, Lagos.
Ekpo said that Udeala collected the sum of N720,000 from the complainant, Amaka Onwukwe, with the pretext of buying a plot of land.
The prosecutor said that the defendant did not purchase the land after collecting the money.

He said that the offence contravened Section 314 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos, 2015.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr L A Layeni, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000, with two sureties in like sum.
He adjourned the case until June 6 for mention. (NAN)
