Commander of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), Maj.-Gen. Abdusalam Abubakar, on Wednesday, organised an Eid-el Fitr luncheon to celebrate the troops in Jos.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that OPSH is the special task force responsible for maintaining peace in Plateau and parts of Bauchi and Kaduna States.
Speaking at the event, Abubakar said that the occasion was aimed at appreciating the efforts of the officers and men of the special task force toward ending insecurity within its area of responsibility.
”This celebration reminds us of the unwavering sacrifices of the armed forces and other security agencies in the country in the maintenance of peace and security of lives and property.
”Your professionalism, courage and determination to achieve our mandate is worthy of note and is highly appreciated.
”While I acknowledge your efforts, I urge you not to rest on your oars in ensuring that peace and security return to our areas of responsibility.
”We must intensify efforts in curbing kidnapping, banditry, farmers-herders clashes, cattle rustling and all forms of security threats within our joint operation area,” he said.
The commander, who doubles as the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 3 Division of the Nigerian Army, Rukuba, near Jos, assured the troops that the armed forces would provide all the necessary logistics to motivate them to effectively discharge their duties.
He urged them to use the Sallah season to pray for their fallen colleagues and the return of lasting peace to all troubled areas in the country. (NAN)
