Mr Anas Musa, a graduate of Chemistry from Federal University, Kashere, Gombe, has appealed to the leadership of Nigeria Defence and Gombe State Government to support his ambition in developing more rockets and even missiles.
He said this would assist government’s efforts in tackling the spate of insecurity in the country.
Musa, a 29-year-old indigene of Gombe State, said this on Friday in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Gombe.
He said his passion to join the military inspired him into building rockets and exploring space technology to contribute his wealth of knowledge to fighting insecurity in the country.
Musa said though his several attempts to get enlisted into the military which made him sit several Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) examinations had not been successful, he was determined to pursue his lifelong passion for the military.
He said that in spite of his unsuccessful attempts at joining the military, he is determined never to give up, adding that his passion for rocket building to realise his ambition is succeeded.
According to him, many of the developed countries of the world like United States, Russia, China and others have functional space agency to harness the potential in space technology.
This, he said, had helped those countries in fighting crimes and tackling security changes in record time.
The young scientist said with the kind of insecurity in the country, the use of technology-based approach was highly needed and “this is where I can contribute my quota if enlisted into the military.
“I am appealing to the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa and the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja to help me.
“Because I have tried over seven times and this year is my last chance and that’s why I am begging.
“I have sat for NDA exams five times before going to Federal University, Kashere, Gombe to study Chemistry and after graduating, I kept applying, even this year, which is my last because of my age, I applied but I wasn’t considered.
“If I get a chance to serve in the army, I assure the defence and army chiefs that within three years, I will bring change in the army especially in ordnance production and missile capacity,” he said.

Musa recalled that since 2022, he had built six rockets and spent over N200, 000 which he sourced personally from his tailoring shop.
Asked what would happen if he failed to join the army, the rocket scientist said he would pursue his dream by seeking scholarship or funding to explore more in rocketry.
He appealed to Gov. Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State to support his ambition through funding to help develop more rockets and even missiles to assist the country in the ongoing efforts to tackling the spate of insecurity. (NAN)
