The Federal Neuro- Psychiatric Hospital, Barnawa-Kaduna said it has installed two units of 50 KVA and one unit of 150 KVA generators at the emergency unit to sustain an uninterrupted power supply.
The Medical Director, Prof. Aishatu Yusha’u-Armiya’u disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Kaduna.
She said the installation also covered the medical laboratory and the COVID-19 intervention project site.
According to her, this is to sustain an uninterrupted power supply to the dialysis section, X-ray and USS centre, the bi-molecular laboratory and the Amenity Ward.
She added that the hospital also has a solar energy alternative power supply to guarantee an uninterrupted service delivery.
According to Yusha’u-Armiya’u, the hospital has also switched to an electronic health medical records system.
She said, ”This positions the Institution among the best in the country in automated service delivery, accelerated service delivery and accountability.”
The medical director further said that a new incinerator has been built for the disposal of waste products.
” The incinerator was abandoned a few years ago and got burnt down due to poor roofing.
” The whole machine got burnt and we needed a new place where we could throw our waste products .
” As I speak to you now, our incinerator is the best. Other hospitals bring their waste products here to be burnt down.”

Yusha’u-Armiya’u said the incinerator was environment-friendly, saying, ” because it doesn’t bring out smoke.
” It has chambers that when it burns the waste products, they turn into ashes.
”Its also serves as a source of revenue for the hospital because all the general hospitals and Primary Health Centres bring their waste products to it.’ (NAN)
