The scarcity of Premium Motor Spirits (PMS) in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in the past one week has further worsened the current economic hardship being experienced by the residents.
This is even as the majority of the citizens in FCT are grappling with the incessant power outage which has made life unbearable especially in the hot afternoon and night times.
Prompt News reports that most filling stations visited in FCT over the weekend were under lock and keys as Petrol Products Retailers Association members have downed tools claiming that the cost of transporting the products to the filling stations are so high that they cannot continue to be in business.
Although no official statement has come from the federal government and by extention the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) on the reason for the scarcity of PMS in Abuja, retailers insist that the cost of purchasing the products and transporting same to the filling stations have made to costly for them to continue to deal in the business.
Also, Independent Petroleum Markerters Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) and its affiliates are yet to make public statements on the scarcity of PMS in Abuja. READ ALSO:

As at the time of filing this report, all the filling stations in FCT especially along Airport Road from City Gate to Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport junction and across Abuja were not dispensing PMS.
They include A.A. Rano, A.Y.M Shafa, Conoil, Shema, Emadeb, AP filling stations and major retail outlets like Mobile, TotalEnergies and some NNPCL mega stations failed to sale PMS.
