A 36-year-old Caretaker, Emmanuel Chukwu was on Tuesday arraigned in a Lugbe Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, for allegedly stealing N3,500 from a tenant saving box.
The police charged Chukwu of Wuse zone 4, Abuja with house breaking and theft.
The prosecution counsel, Mrs Charity Nwosu told the Court that the complainant, Mr Bala Mohammed of the same address, reported the matter at the Wuse Zone 4 Police Station on Feb. 29.
Nwosu said the complainant claimed that the defendant criminally broke the door`s burglary of his shop and enter into the shop without his consent.
He said that the defendant smartly took the complainant`s saving box and made away with his N3, 500 kept inside the box.
The prosecutor said that during police investigation, the defendant could not give a satisfactory account of his actions.
He said that the offences contravened sections 346 and 287 of the Penal Code.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Nwosu prayed the Court to grant her date to open her case against the defendant.

The Judge, Aliyu Kagarko granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum
Kagarko ordered that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and produce reliable means of identification.
He adjourned the matter until April 5, for hearing. (NAN)
