One of the pioneers of women’s football in Nigeria, Elder Eddington Bola Kuejubola, says his nomination for the Sportsville Special Recognition Award is a big honour he will continue to cherish.
“I am really, really elated by this honour, this award coming from an organisation like Sportsville known for its excellence and credibility, means so much to me and my family.
“That this is happening when one is alive, makes it extra special because most of my colleagues who started the journey together are no more, people like Prince Larry Eze of the blessed memory! You can understand why I am very happy to be nominated for this recognition.
“I had thought that all our efforts, vision and sacrifice as pioneers of women football in Nigeria were in vain, but Sportsville has just reminded me that the labours of our heroes will not go unnoticed. Thank you Sportsville for this recognition.”
Elder Kuejubola, who founded the famous Ufuoma Babes football club of Warri, Delta state when majority of people in Nigeria gave no chance to women football, is today excited about the global attention women football is attracting. He picks up the story again.
“It gives me so much joy and inner satisfaction that today, the girl child, through football, is a bread winner for her family. To God be all the glory,” he added. READ ALSO:
