A Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, sentenced a 20-year old tailor, Abubakar Lawan to two-years imprisonment for breaking into the house of a police officer and stealing items worth N331,8000.
The convict pleaded guilty to house breaking and theft.
Magistrate Shawomi Bokkos, summarily sentenced Lawan to one year imprisonment without option of fine and to also pay a compensation of N300,000 to the complainant and in default a year in prison.
He said the judgment would serve as deterrent to those who would want to indulge in such illegal acts.

Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Insp Ibrahim Gokwat told the court that the case was reported on Jan. 15, at the “C” Division Police station by one Insp Aliya Ibrahim, the complainant.
Gokwat said that the convict broke into the house and stole two flat screen TV, one motorcycle battle, carpet, two decoders, trousers, jacket all valued at N331,800.
He said the convict committed the offence punishable under the provisions of the Plateau Penal Code Law. (NAN)
