By: Gracious Akujobi Enyimba FC striker Sibi Gwar said his desire to win trophy informed his decision to dump Niger Tornadoes.
In a chat with Prompt News Online, the former Tornadoes’ striking sensation said he is a happy man playing club football with the people’s Elephant.
“Whenever I play in Enyimba, we always win trophy, we are occupying the third position in the league and I am optimistic that we will win the League or the Federation Cup”
Gwar, was the highest goal scorer in the 2011-2012 season with 16 goals to his credit but he has not been able to replicate his goal scoring form this season due to injury.
“At the beginning of the season I travelled out. When I came back I had injury and so I struggled. As the second round started I had injury again, I have played just one game since the second half of the league started, I have not given up on taking my goal tally up to the two digits figure before the season ends,” Gwar said.
He is however not happy with the position his former club Niger Tornadoes are currently occupying in the National league
“I feel bad at the position where Tornadoes are occupying now. That is the club where I scored the highest goal in the league so I am grateful for the opportunity the club gave me and at the same time I am sad that they may not make it back to the Premier league”.
He also spoke about his desire to play for the national team, saying “as far as the national team is concerned I know my time will come. I will continue to do my best I know that one day they will invite me. I was called to the national team, I took permission and travelled to Israel and since I came back I have not been called back to the national team”
The striker still has his eyes on playing in Europe but declined to disclose his destination until the deal is done. His words, “I am trying to make a move but I don’t want to disclose anything for now, by the grace of God I will leave for Europe this summer”
Sibi Gwar has played for Enyimba, Lobi Stars, Niger Tornadoes and now back in Enyimba. He has scored six goals so far this season.
