Gov. Agbu Kefas of Taraba, on Wednesday inaugurated the Taraba State Students Identification System (TESIS), for public primary and secondary schools in the state.

Kefas, who inaugurated the project at the remodeled Government Primary School Nyamusala, Jalingo, said  the project sought  to capture  the accurate number of schools and pupils in the entire state.

The governor described the event as  a significant measure, and the key to achieving his administration’s  free education policy.

“Every child in Taraba is entitled to free education, and parents must take the responsibility of making them available for the good of the society.

“I urge the people of the state to key into the initiative, in order to secure a better future for our children and the state,” he said.

Kefas said his administration was pleased to take the financial burden of education off parents, and urged  everyone to feel free to advise government.

Earlier, Dr Augustina Godwin, the state Commissioner for Education, reiterated the administration’s commitment to match words with action, by ensuring that the free education became a reality.

Godwin commended the level of architectural work that went into remodeling the schools to ensure conducive teaching and learning environment for teachers and pupils.
