The Police Command in Jigawa has arrested two suspects for allegedly harbouring suspected kidnapper and armed robber in Gumel Local Government Area of the state.
The Spokesman of the Command, DSP Lawan Shiisu, confirmed the arrest in a statement in Dutse on Tuesday.
He said that operatives of the Command arrested the suspects aged 40 and 30, at Tseme villege in Gumel, on Dec. 13.
Shiisu said the duo allegedly harboured the suspected kidnapper and armed robber, who is now at large, adding that the fleeing suspect was on top of the Command’s wanted list.
He said preliminary investigation shows that one of suspect used his motorcycle to shuttled the fleeing suspect whenever he came into the village.
According to him, the suspects will be charged to court upon completion of investigation, while effort is being intensified to arrest the fleeing suspect.
Meanwhile, the Command said it had arrested 25 other suspects for various offences in Dutse and Yankwashi LGAs of the state.
Shiisu said the police arrested the suspects during a raid at black spots and criminal hideouts on Dec. 16.
He said the arrest was sequel to the directives by the Commissioner of Police (CP) in the state, Mr Ahmadu Abdullahi, as part of efforts to reduce crimes through effective crime control.
“The police, acting on credible intelligence, raided criminal hideout at Gindin Dinya, Zai hills and Danmasara quarters in Dutse and Jama’ar Mallam Hassan village in Yankwashi LGA respectively.
“During the raids, 25 suspects, including four wanted drug dealers terrorising Dutse metropolis were arrested in Dutse.
“Two other suspects who specialised in shop breaking and theft were arrest in Yankwashi, while the rest had been apprehended for allegedly engaging in various wrongdoings and vices.
“Also, the police arrested two suspected phone snatchers on Monnday in Gumel after they snatched a cellphone from a lady at Babura market on Sunday”.
Shiisu said police recovered 134 wraps of Cannabis Sativa, a number of substances, four knives, two bags of rice, one bag of groundnut, five cellphones and batteries, two pliers and a piece of iron rod from the suspects. (NAN). READ ALSO:
