Kelechi Nwakali has backed his compatriot Victor Osimhen to win the 2023 CAF Men’s Player of the Year award.
Osimhen is looking to become the first Nigerian to win the award since Nwankwo Kanu claimed the individual accolade in 1999.
The Napoli striker will battle Mohamed Salah and Achraf Hakimi for the award.
The 24-year-old was a standout performer for the Partenopei last season.
The forward scored 26 goals to help Napoli win their first Scudetto in 33 years in the 2022/23 season.
Nwakali claimed Osimhen had a better season than Hakimi and Salah. READ ALSO:

“Looking at the players nominated I think he had a better season.
“I believe he will get the highest votes to win the African Player award.”
