The Owo High School Old Students’ Association ( OHSOSA) says it has spent nothing less than N100 million on various infrastructural projects in the school.
The President of the OHSOSA, Dr Folusho Falaye, stated this on Monday in Owo during a news conference heralding the 60th anniversary of the school.
Falaye said that the association expended the money on a brand new administrative block, a brand new Junior Secondary School blocks comprising classrooms and a staffroom.
It also rehabilitated and renovated Senior Secondary blocks and various laboratories – physics, chemistry, biology.
Others are construction of boreholes, purchase of marker boards, support for ICT, renovation of staff room and the National Youth Service (NYSC) lodge and solar powered street lights.
He explained that all developmental projects in the school, apart from the tarred roads, were carried out by the old students.
Falaye said almost 10,000 students had passed out from the school since its inception.
He added that the association had not relented in its scholarships, mentoring programme and support for initiatives that could promote academic and extracurricular development.
The president promised that the association would continue to support the school vigorously, adding that it had decided to remove all bottlenecks in the school so that the school’s products could achieve their God-given potentials.
Falaye said the 60th celebration was a unique heart-warming event that brought some of the pioneer students of the school.

According to him, the school has nurtured intellect of the members of the association and also instilled in them values of integrity, discipline, compassion and perseverance.
“These values are what set the students apart and enable us to confidently maneuver through the challenges life throws our way.
“It is heartening to see that these values continue to be at the core of our alma mater’s ethos.
“Today, our members are achieving great strides in the various professional verticals across the land and even in the diaspora.
“Our school remains a big brand in Owo environment, an institution of first choice to many aspiring students and their parents.
“This is in line with the vision of our founding fathers and this brand we intend to promote and make stronger,” he said.
Falaye said that the association would not rest on its oars until Owo High School would become a global brand, calling on association’s members and other stakeholders to make commitment to the goal.
Also, the Chairman of Global 60th Anniversary Committee, Prince Amakaye Ojomo, said that the school had been a beacon of hope and opportunity, nurturing young minds and empowering them to achieve their full potentials in all areas of life.
