Victor Osimhen is a major doubt for Nigeria’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Zimbabwe due to injury.
Osimhen sustained the injury in Nigeria’s friendly against Saudi Arabia last weekend.
The striker returned to Italy early for medical examinations.
Napoli confirmed on Monday that their talismanic hitman has suffered a groin injury.
It is expected that Osimhen will be ruled out for at least three of Napoli’s next matches, however, Sky Sport Italia have noted that the usual recovery time for this sort of injury is typically around four to six weeks.
Nigeria will take on Lesotho in their opening fixture in the qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup in Uyo on November 13.
Jose Peseiro’s side will travel to Harare for a matchday two clash against Zimbabwe three days later.
This is second time Osimhen will be suffering injury on international duty. READ ALSO:
