Rangers International plans a revival of its dwindling fortunes in this year’s league season when they face Warri Wolves in their next Nigeria Premier League fixture on August 4, 2013.
A source close to the team told Prompt News Online after Rangers were eliminated from the Federation Cup courtesy of a painful 2-1 loss against Akwa United at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri.
“Rangers are now hoping to revive their prestige in their next game away to Warri Wolves by ensuring they win the crunch match in order to have the hope of moving up on the league table otherwise, it will be very difficult for the team to remain a force in the league this season”, the disclosed the source.
Meanwhile, the source also said that the camp of the Flying Antelopes was in disarray following the defeat by Akwa United which was a major set-back as officials engaged in blame game for poor tactical formation in the match.
“The truth is that officials of Rangers resorted to blame game after the loss to United”. “Frankly speaking, all is not well with the team as I speak and I just hope they put their house in order to avert any further slip in this year’s campaign,” the source further said.
Meanwhile, fans of Enugu Rangers have called on the state government to carry out total overhaul of the club’s management which they believe has not been carrying out its responsibility to re-position the team for the better performance.
Rangers have been engulfed in multiple problems this season, ranging from the controversial transfer of Super Eagles players, Sunday Mba and Chigozie Agbim from Warri Wolves to that involving goalkeeper Emmanuel Daniel from 3SC of Ibadan, which led to their disqualification from this year’s CAF Confederation Cup.
