Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL, Champions, Enyimba F. C have been thrown out of the 2023CAF Champions League following a goalless draw with visiting Ahly Benghazi of Libya in Aba on Sunday.
The People’s Elephant just needed a lone goal win to progress to the second preliminary round but they could not secure the needed result at their home as the visitors held their own.
Enyimba had lost the first leg in Libya 3-4 last week and expectations were high that the Nigerian champions will “finish the job” in Aba.

PROMPT NEWS reports that it’s the first time Enyimba are being eliminated at the first stage of the competition since 2015.
