Augustine Eguavoen is set to take temporary charge of the Super Eagles for their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sao Tome and Principe next month.
The three-time African champions will host Sao Tome in their last group game in the qualifiers at the Godswil Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo on Sunday, September 10.
With the Nigeria Football Federation and head coach of the Super Eagles, Jose Peseiro still locked in talks over a new contract, Eguavoen, according to Own Goal, could step in for the game.
Eguavoen, who is the technical director of the NFF led the Super Eagles to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
The Super Eagles were eliminated in the last-16 by the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia.
The former defender returned to his position when Peseiro took charge of the Super Eagles in May, 2022.
The Super Eagles have already secured a place at the 2023 AFCON finals which will be hosted by Cote d’Ivoire. READ ALSO:
