Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim, Deputy Governor of Anambra has assured that Prof. Chukwuma Soludo-led administration will continue to work with security agencies in the state.
He said that government in its quest to strengthen the security apparatus of the state in the interest of the residents considered security as key to development.
Ibezim made the assurance when he on behalf of Gov Soludo, received the new Commissioner of Police, in Anambra, Mr Aderemi Adeoye in Awka on Tuesday.
He described security of life and property of residents as one of the top priorities of the present administration.
He said that the good relationship between the state government and the Police as well as other security agencies would be maintained to ensure that people moved freely for their lawful businesses without harassments.
Ibezim described the new Anambra CP, Adeoye as a “square peg in a square hole” having headed many units in the Nigeria Police Force before his appointment as the police commissioner.
He expressed the hope that security network in Anambra would be improved under the watch of the new CP.
Earlier, the new Commissioner of Police, Adeoye said he was in the state to render selfless service to Anambra people.
He said he would ensure that no stone were left unturned in the fight against crime and criminality in the state, as according to him, the state police command under his watch would always be guided by the ethics of the profession.
Adeoye observed that Anambra state was blessed with industrious people who only needed a safe and secured environment to thrive, promising that his leadership would ensure a conducive environment for the people.
He promised to consolidate the achievements of his predecessor and warned that there was no space for miscreants who might want to terrorize or truncate the security and peace of the state. (NAN)
