Super Falcons winger Francesca Ordega has joined the team’s Brisbane camp in Australia after overcoming
flight hitches which delayed her early arrival for the 15-day pre-tournament training in Down Under.
Her arrival has increased the number of players in camp to 22 with veteran midfielder Halimat Ayinde the only player being expected to hit camp on Monday, July 10. She is being held back by club’s engagements as the league in Sweden ended at the weekend.
Prompt News can confirm that Ordega arrived Brisbane from her Russia base on Saturday morning, two days after she could not make it on Thursday as the aircraft she boarded developed technical issues which prompted the airline to cancel the flight to Australia and reschedule the trip for Saturday.
Meanwhile, club commitments have made it impossible for Ayinde who plays for Rosengard FC in Sweden to join the Nigeria camp in Brisbane earlier as the Swedish women’s football league only ended on Friday, July 7, 2023.
She will now arrive Brisbane camp on Monday to complete the number of players selected by Head Coach Randy Waldrum to prosecute the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup final in Australia and New Zealand.
