The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Ondo State, on Wednesday decorated 85 of its senior officers promoted to various ranks in the Command.

Mr Olayinka Olatundun, NSCDC State Commandant, who decorated the officers, said their promotion was one of the fulfillments of the Commandant General, Ahmed Abubakar Audi, to boost the morale of personnel.

Olatundun said that the promotion was part of the commandant general’s cardinal policies to rejig, revamp, restructure and reposition the corps for effective and efficient service delivery to meet with international standards.

The commandant said that the promotions included Deputy Commandant of Corps (DCC); 13 Assistant Commandants of Corps (ACC); two Chief Superintendenst of Corps (CSC); three Superintendents of Corps (SC).

He also said other promoted officers were 8 Deputy Superintendents of Corps (DSC); 19 Assistant Superintendents of Corps (ASC-1) and 39 Assistant Superintendents of Corps (ASC-2).

According to him, the commandant general understands the importance of staff by ensuring that promotion is done when due since his assumption of office.

Olatundun, therefore, urged the promoted officers to reciprocate the gesture by giving their best in the discharge of their duties and to put up acts befitting the office they presently occupied.

“Today 85 senior officers got promoted from NSCDC Ondo State Command but we must all know that promotion is a privilege and it comes from God alone.
“Those promoted are to see this as a gift from God, who rules in the affairs of men justly.

“And, I must tell you also that promotion is a call to higher responsibility.
“To those who were not promoted, I want to urge you not to be discouraged or downcasted, a living dog is better than a dead lion.

“That you are alive is a pointer that something good is coming your way soon,” he said.

Speaking, Mr Daniel Aidamenbor, who was promoted from the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Corps (ASC) to Deputy Superintendent of Corps (DSC), appreciated the commandant-general for counting them worthy.

He said that the promotion would help them to do more for the corps and Nigeria at large.

Aidamenbor, who was also the state NSCDC’s spokesperson, charged those who were not promoted not to be discouraged in the system, rather to be more focused and dedicated to the service.

“About 15,000 personnel wrote this examination across the nation and just more than 5,000 were promoted. It’s means that about 10,000 were not promoted and we thank God we are part of the promoted ones.

“As spokesperson of the command, if I missed out in the exercise, it’s going to be very discouraging but now that I passed, it will make me to do more and put my best to ensure that Ondo State command is well projected.

“And for those who missed out, don’t be downcasted and not loose hope in the system because promotion comes from God and it is a privilege and not about who you know,” he said. (NAN)
