The Kano State Government has appealed to Saudi Arabian Government to establish a medical centre in the state.
Gov. Abba Yusuf made the request during a dinner held to mark the successful conclusion of the “Cardiac Programme for Adults”, sponsored by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre in the state.
The initiative, led by the King Salman Volunteering Team, in collaboration with the Islamic World League and other medical volunteers, conducted free cardiac surgeries for 12 patients in Kano State.
Represented by the Deputy Governor, Aminu Gwarzo, Yusuf said that a fully equipped medical centre would not only benefit Kano State, but Nigeria as a whole.
He expressed gratitude to the Saudi Arabian Government for the health intervention and pledged to collaborate with the Saudi Consul-General in Kano, Mr Khalil Adamawi, to strengthen the existing humanitarian partnership between the Kingdom and Kano State.
Responding, the consul-general reiterated the Kingdom’s commitment to deploy humanitarian principles that would alleviate the suffering of people who lacked the resources to cover the cost of their medical procedures.
He said “this commitment has become a norm for Saudi Arabia, demonstrating our dedication to support people in need.”
Prof. Abdurrahman Sheshe, the Chief Medical Director of Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH), thanked the governor for the commitment to improve the state’s healthcare sector.
He also commended the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, particularly the humanitarian team that came to Kano to save lives and enhance the skills of staff at AKTH. (NAN)
