A Dei-dei Grade I Area Court sentenced an unemployed man, Idara Sunday to seven months imprisonment for hacking into a businessman’s account and stealing N306, 200.

Sunday was convicted and sentenced after pleading guilty to theft.

He begged the court to temper justice with mercy.

The Judge, Mr Saminu Suleiman gave him an option to pay a fine of N30, 000 and ordered him to pay the complainant, John Tom N269, 200 as compensation.

He warned him to desist from committing crimes and be of good behaviour.

Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Mr Chinedu Ogada told the court that the complainant of Kubwa, Abuja, reported the matter at the Kubwa Police Station on April 25.

Ogada said Sunday fraudulently hacked into the complainant’s Opay bank account and stole N306, 200 on Feb.2.

He added that during police investigations N37, 000 was recovered from Sunday including one Infinix Smart 5 Phone which he purchased with the proceeds of fraud.

The prosecution counsel said the offence, contravened the provisions of sections 288 of the Penal Code.(NAN)
