Bamidele Ologunloluwa, Ondo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, has commended the heroics of Sunshine Stars youngsters in the NPFL/LaLiga U-15 Promises in Ikenne, Ogun.
Ologunloluwa, on Monday in Akure while receiving the team, showered encomiums on the players and officials for blazing the trail to clinch the bronze medal at the competition.
Sunshine Stars, coached by Sade Akinrolabu, defeated El Kanemi Warriors 1-0 in the third place match of the tournament
“This is the reward of hardwork and dedication to duty. Our youngsters have never had it so good at this level and so we are proud of them.
” If Pele could start his professional career before age 16, then I see light at the end of the tunnel for them,” he said.
Ologunloluwa also expressed gratitude to Gov. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, for his support and encouragement for youths in the state.
“I thank Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu for creating an enabling environment for sports, especially football in Ondo State, part of the results we witnessed in the NPFL/LaLiga U15 tournament.”
Ologunloluwa expressed an air of expectancy that some of the youngsters would soon graduate into the senior team.
“My expectation is that some of these rookies would in the near future be drafted into our team in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) just as it was done in the days of Ondo State Football Development Agency (OSFODEC) that produced players for the senior team,” he added
