By Gracious Akujobi Chairman of League Management Company (LMC) Nduka Irabor has declared that clubs owing their players will not be allowed to play their matches in the 2015/2016 league season.
Irabor told Prompt News that the minimum wage which was pegged at N150, 000 for last season will be sustained.
“Yes there is a minimum wage of one hundred and fifty thousand naira and we hope to sustain it this season,” he said.
When asked if there are mechanisms in place to ensure that clubs who owe backlog of salaries of players are made to pay their players before the league kick off, the LMC boss said:
“We have adopted the policy of No pay, No play . If you don’t pay your players you won’t be registered to play.
“But, we have gone beyond that because if you manage to play you will be playing in futility.
“You can’t owe players for more than 60 days, if you do that you lose three points, if it goes on to 90 days you lose other points” he stated.
