By Olusegun Lawrence There are strong indications that the 2015 general elections billed for February 14 and 28 may be shifted.
Already, there are rumours that the elections have been shifted by six weeks, but INEC has promptly debunked this.
As at the time of filling this report, INEC top shots are still meeting with representatives of political parties, which will be followed by another one with the civil societies.
INEC posted this on its twitter handle, “@inecnigeria: INEC has not made any official announcement about Feb. 14th polls. Meetings still ongoing.
“@inecnigeria INEC currently meeting with political parties, meeting with civil society organisations coming up shortly.”
The ruling party and the Presidency are pushing for polls shift, insisting that INEC is not fully prepared to conduct credible elections and to ensure no eligible voter is disenfranchised.
But on its part, the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) believes the elections should go ahead as scheduled.
