The Kwara Government on Friday, said that it had concluded plans to install five more transformers in some communities in the state.
This is contained in a statement in Ilorin by Mrs Rukayat Abdulhameed, Press Secretary to the Commissioner for Energy in the state.
According to her, the Commissioner, Mr Abdulwahab White, said that the ministry had secured approval to install the transformers in the benefiting communities.
White said the benefiting communities are Oke-Odo and Erin-Ile in Oyun local government, Offa General Hospital in Offa LG; Obbo-Ile community, Palace Area, in Ekiti LG; Oke-Ayewu community, in Shao, Moro LG; and As-Sunnah Kutashi, Tanke Oke-Odo, in Ilorin South local government.
He explained that the approval for the installation the transformers comes few weeks after the administration directed the installation of 400 units of solar street lights and 18 transformers in several communities across the 16 local government areas in the state.
He added that the gesture is in furtherance of the government’s commitment to the well-being of the citizens, adding that Gov. Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq is sensitive to the socio-economic development in all parts of the state.
“Lack of access to electricity supply slows down economic growth, so our administration will continue to address the issue in a steady way,” he said.
He urged communities that were still awaiting similar gestures to be patient while government mobilises resources for more transformers. (NAN)
