***Capacity building for religious leaders
The Nigerian Baptist Convention (NBC) through one of its organs, Ecumenism for Development and Peace Initiate (EDAPI) has collaborated with the community life project to organize a national sensitization on civil education.
The Director of Ecumenism and interfaith department, Nigerian Baptist Convention, Dr Testimony Onifade says the national sensitization is aimed at engaging spiritual leaders in order to build their capacity in civil and voter’s education for citizen observer.
The seminar according to him, creates vantage avenue to thoroughly immerse religious leaders in the political process and also equip them with requisite skills in order to provide exemplary leadership and guidance.
Onifade also stated that the NBC also partnered with the community life project headed by Dr Ngozi were to organize a voters education seminar for citizen election observers.
He opined that the entire citizenry needs adequate information and mobilization in order to exercise their civic rights.
The President, Nigerian Baptist Convention , Dr Isreal Akanji asserted that both seminar provide verifiable platforms both spiritual leaders in particular and the public in general.
The NBC according to him is concerned about the nation’s political process and the seminar showcases its contribution to nation building.
Dr Kehinde Babarinde, the National Director, Education, Dialogue and Value system initiatives enjoined leaders to provide adequate guidance to the people on voter education.
