By Gracious Akujobi Nigeria’s Super Falcons are likely to embark on a two-week training tour in preparatory to the women World Cup in Canada if the proposal to CAF by NFF sails through.
General Secretary of the NFF Musa Amadu told Prompt News that because of the tight schedule of qualifying matches for the Falcons they are looking at ways to plead with CAF to shift the matches so that the African champions can go for training tour.
“Falcons will be playing Olympics qualifiers right up to the May 31st before the World Cup itself.
“The World Cup starts by June 6,we will probably ask CAF to bring forward the Olympic qualifier for the girls by two weeks at least so that they can leave for either Canada or the United States on May 15 and have two weeks to prepare for the World Cup.
“We are going to the World Cup as African champions and we need to prepare the girls very well to ensure that they will go as far as their predecessors went in 1999 when they got to the quarter finals in to USA and maybe even surpass the record,” Amadu said.
The Super Falcons are going to be playing Mali for both the All Africa Games and Olympics qualifiers and the matches start in the middle of March.
