The Nigeria Football Coaches Association has expressed deep sorrow at the news of the death of Coach Musa Abdullahi, a former head coach of National U-17.
In a release in Abuja, the President of the Association Coach Bitrus Bewarang described the demise of Abdullahi, as a very unfortunate one, not only to the Association, but to the entire football fraternity all over the world.
He said the late Coach who died at the age 61, contributed positive to the development of the game in the country. He prayed that God in his infinite mercies should grant the family the fortitude to bear the lost.
The late Musa Abdullahi who was also a former Assistant Coach of the Super Eagles died on Sunday afternoon in Lokoja having suffered from stroke for several years.
He has since been buried according to Islamic rites in his home, Koton-Karfe, Kogi Local Government of Kogi state.
Abdullahi was the assistant Coach to the National U.17 Team that won the FIFA U-17 World Cup title in Japan in 1993.
He also lead the team to win the African U.17 Championship in Seychelles in 2001 and won the silver medal at the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Trinidad and Tobago the same year.
He served severally as the Assistant Coach of the Senior National Team, Super Eagles, Head Coach of the National U.20 team Flying Eagles, and coach U-23 Dream Team IV. He handled Dolphins of Port Harcourt as their head coach from 2002 to 2005, before he moved over to South Africa.
Late Abdullahi, was a deputy Director in the Kogi State Sport Council. He is survived by his wife Hajiya Bilikisu Musa and four children.
