Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro has nothing but praise for Argentina after the South Americans claimed the World Cup title for the third time in their history.
La Albiceleste dethroned former champions France in a tensed final contest at the Lusail Iconic Stadium on Sunday night following a 4-2 penalty shootout win.
The game ended 3-3 after 120 minutes.
It was Argentina’s first title in 36 years after their last triumph at the 1986 edition in Mexico.
Lionel Scaloni’s side dominated play and were rewarded with two goals before the break.
France rallied back in the last quarter with Kylian Mbappe scoring twice to level things up.
Lionel Messi put Argentina ahead again in extra-time, while Mbappe dragged France back into the game with his second penalty.
“Congratulations Argentina on winning your third World Cup!
It was an exciting game, what an incredible match! You deserve every minute of this title, well done!” Peseiro wrote on his Twitter handle.
