National Youth Council of Nigeria on Wednesday called on President Muhammadu Buhari, to immediately remove the Minister Youth and Sports, Mr. Solomon Dalung, allegedly for abuse of office.
The National President of the Union, Mr. Imo Ugochinyere, at a world press conference also implored the President to shelve further foreign trips and quickly sign into law the N6.6trillion budget, so as to enable the president present a supplementary budget to the National Assembly to capture any missing project in the 2016 fiscal estimate.
Ugochinyere alleged deliberate attempt by the minister to factionalize the NYCN for selfish interest.
According to the council, the minister was yet to recognise the Ugochinyere led NYCN despite a court ruling that he remain the National president.
The President added that the NYCN resolved also to suspend the minister and his cohorts from the board of trustees of the council.
Ugochinyere said: “The council appreciates the success recorded from all the travels and believes that thepresidents desire to give some of the issue a personal touch were done in the best interest of Nigeria.
“However owing to the mounting domestic challenges, council call on our dear president to shelve further foreign trips for now and also give some personal touch to some issues at home.”
According to the council, the Vice president or any of the relevant ministers can represent the president in any such foreign events.
The NYCN also implored president to sign the 2016 budget into law just so as to revive economic activities in the country.
He however said that the president can send a supplementary budget to the senate if he feel strongly that some projects that critical to his agenda are missing in the budget.
