Apparently complying with the 48 hours ultimatum given to them by Nigeria’s secret service, the Department of State Security (DSS) to restore normalcy in the supply of petrol (PMS) across the country or face dare consequences, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPC) and major petroleum products marketers have brought out the hidden products for sale at many retail outlets in Abuja.
Prompt News investigations have revealed that fuel queues are gradually disappearing in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja just as most of the filling stations across the metropolis were seen dispensing PMS into the waiting vehicles.
This is even as the long queues that have been a regular feature in Abuja for several months now have reduced drastically as most of the retail outlets visited on Friday were not crowded anymore with some filling stations having fewer vehicles to attend to.
Specifically, most NNPC mega and mini stations visited in FCT were dispensing PMS as at the time of this report just as some independent marketers like A. Y. Shaffa stations near Shoprite-Apo Mall and Gudu and A.A. Rano stations at Apo NEPA junction and along Umaru Yar’Adua Expressway near City Gate.
It was also observed that most of the filling stations especially the NNPC stations in the metropolis sold PMS at N179 per litre but the pump price varies from one independent marketers to another Prompt News can confirm.
Speaking on the fuel situation Mr. Nicholas Nathaniel who filled the tank of his Toyota 4 Runner SUV vehicle with N11,000 commended the DSS for coming to the rescue of the citizens, pointing out that the threat has forced the NNPC and Marketers to bring out the petroleum products they hoarded with the intention of exploiting hapless Nigerians.
