The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Niger says it has intercepted a vehicle filled with 27 plastic containers of 25 litre-capacity containing crude oil in Munya Local Government Area of the state.
The command Public Relations Officer, DSC Nasir Abdullahi, announced this while briefing newsmen in Minna on Wednesday.
Abdullahi said that the command’s station in Sarkin Pawa, Munya, arrested one Bulus Samari, a native of Kaduna State with a vehicle marked ABJ 330 KC with the products suspected to be stolen crude oil.
He explained that the suspect admitted buying the product from one Amos of Pai-Masa village of Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Abdullahi said that the command under the leadership of the Commandant Ahmed Dandare, assured the public to sustain its responsibility of protecting critical national assets and infrastructure in the state.
He reiterated its commitment to hunting suspected economic saboteurs to ensure absolute blockage of oil theft the state.
While calling on the public, especially those leaving on pipeline to assist the corps with useful and timely information on vandals’ activities.
The suspected crude oil dealer, Bulus Samari, in an interview said that it was his first term and regretted his action while urging potential dealers not to embark on such illegal business. (NAN)
