By Gracious Akujobi Director of Federations and Elite Athletes Department (FEAD) in the National Sports Commission, Dr. Bolaji Ojo-Oba, has retired from the Federal Civil Service.
Ojo-Oba formally announced his retirement on Wednesday in Abuja, at a media briefing, saying he has no regrets whatsoever leaving after years of meritorious service.
“I have no regrets whatsoever that I am leaving the service. Every profession has its own hazard, but I thank God I exhibited some level of perseverance and patient to be able to get to where we got to now.
“If there will be any regrets at all it will be a kind of positive regrets that I am retiring. I enjoyed every bit of my time in sports/ football.
“I had my own share of the ups and downs, so no regrets. I did not have any time I wanted to leave in frustration. Where will I go if you ask me? Nowhere. I was made in sports and football,” he said.
The former General Secretary of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) when asked what would be his next line of action replied “I am still in the service till 4pm today so the decision of what to do after will be taken later.
“I will like to rest very well but the decision to do something will be decided by me and my well wishers”
He thanked all those who have helped him in life from being a lecturer, Sports Commissioner in Oyo State, Secretary General of NFF, CAF/ FIFA security personnel officer and Director (FEAD) at the Sports Commission.
Ojo- Oba praised the media for giving him the support all through the years stating, “I am a creation of the media.
“That is why I have called you all to thank you and to say to you all that that person you all created has retired” he concluded.
