The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday inaugurated the 2023 Presidential Women Campaign Team for Tinubu/Shetima just as the party’s flagbearer, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has promised to end banditry and hopelessness in Nigeria if voted into office in next year’s presidential election.
This is even as the wife of Nigeria’s President, Mrs. Aisha Muhammadu Buhari has charged women and youth to spearhead the victory of the APC presidential candidate, Tinubu and his running mate, Senator Kashim Shetima whom she described as seasoned politician and banker respectively.
Speaking at the inauguration held at the Old Banquet Hall, Presidential Villa, Abuja, the First Lady said that the event of Monday was another milestone in the electioneering campaigns, stating how she led the 2015 Presidential Women Campaign Team while the wife of Vice President Mrs. Dolapo Yemi Osinbajo led the 20219 APC Women’s Presidential Campaign Team when she was away on medical grounds.
She said with a seasoned politician like Tinubu and Shetima, a banker as presidential candidate and running mate respectively, APC is getting two at the price of one, arguing that she believes both men will do a good job if voted into the office.
Earlier speaking at the event, APC presidential candidate, Tinubu promised Nigerians that with his candidature as President, he would end banditry and poverty and restore hope, peace, and security in the country.
Said he: “I will give Nigerians Peace and Freedom.
Hope is here.
Banditry is ended
Prosperity is here.
Insecurity has ended.I will break the cycle of insecurity..We will break the cycle of hopelessness”.
Turning to the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Tinubu posited that APC inherited a very big problems including bad economy and insecurity from PDP, pointing out that under the state of uncertainty then APC broke through and performed creditablly well.
Said he: “It’s easy to forget that it’s hours and hours between Kaduna to Ibadan and Lagos by rail but now everything is ok”.
“In fact, our opponents were in power for 16 years but failed to understand the ripple effects of restoring power for industrialisation”.
“They could not even make a down payment on the rail infrastructure they claimed they invested in but APC has changed the narrative. Nigerians will not allow PDP to come back to power again”.
Present at the inauguration were APC bigwigs from across the country, including President Muhammadu Buhari who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Professor Ibrahim Gambari and APC National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu.
Also present at the event are the vice presidential candidate of the APC, Senator Kashim Shettima; APC National Women Leader, Dr. Betta Edu and the wives of the candidate and his running mate, Senator (Mrs.) Remi Tinubu and Mrs Nana Shettima.
