KV Kortrijk have appointed former Super Eagles forward Joseph Akpala as an assistant coach, reports Promptnewsonline.com.
The Belgian Pro League outfit made the announcement on Friday.
The reorganization of the club’s technical crew will see Akpala and Jimmy Hempte work with head coach, Adnan Custovic.
“KV Korjrik expands the technical staff with Jimmy Hempte and Joseph Akpala.
“They join Adnan Custovic’s staff and start working as assistant coaches,” reads a statement on the club’s official website.
Akpala is no stranger to Belgian football having played for Sporting Charleroi, Club Brugge and KV Oostende during his active days.
The Nigerian was the top scorer in the Belgian Pro League in 2008 netting 18 goals for Sporting Charleroi
Akpala then moved to Club Brugge the following season and scored 56 goals in 168 games for the club.
The 36-year-old also played for clubs in Germany, Turkey and Saudi Arabia and Romania.
He last played for Romanian club, Steaua Bucharest.
Akpala made nine appearances for Nigeria with a goal to his name.
